GeForce 9800 cards are finally press release worthy
Just last night (or day, depending on time zone), Nvidia has introduced three new products - the GeForce 9800 GX2, 9800 GTX and nForce 790i SLI. If this feels like it already happened, don't go calling a therapist as it did. Although all three products were released between March 18 and April 1st, this is the first time the Santa Clara-based company has a press release praising them.
Interestingly-enough, the lack of press releases for the GeForce 9800 cards has been a focus point in one of our Techditorials, with the conclusion being that the reason for this was the little real innovation and performance increase of the new cards over the GeForce 8800 GT/GTS 512. Now, in this case, we're sure some people would simply go on and state that they influenced Nvidia into writing up a press release but we just see it as a cute coincidence. Overall, it still doesn't change the fact that the GeForce 9800 series cards don't really deserve that little '9' in front. Bygones.
